CPU Utilization of ISA soundcards vs PCI soundcards

My sister's PC is using an ISA ESS 1869, with a K6-3 400 processor. It's not exactly the most capable soundcard; I'm considering getting her a different card sometime, but I don't want to tax her CPU any more than it already is. What do you think a Cmedia 8738 would do for the system?
 
A C-Media based card should be fine. Pick up a Hercules Muse XL for her. You can find these as low as $14 on-line and about $20-30 retail depending on where you shop. For the price, these actually offer a lot of bang for the buck.
 
Ok; I actually found a vendor at the last computer show selling C-media cards for only $9 each. I got one of them for one of my parent's PCs. It seems to work just fine. I think it was Elephant or some strange brand that no one has ever heard of...
