Running Vista RC2 via bootcamp on my Core Duo mac mini...

Checking in taskmanager, i see that my CPU utilization never drops below 50% on both cores, and spikes from there when being used.

I show no processes taking more than 0-2%, 2% being the highest of any....

Any ideas?

UPDATE: Turns out i needed to make vista show processes from ALL users. Looks like it was APC Powerchute causing the problems (mainserv.exe). Killed the process, uninstalled the app, and all is good :)

Thanks for all the help!

OS forum would be a good start :)

Start killing all processes that aren't required by Windows to function. See if the CPU utilization drops when you stop a certain process.

Does Bootcamp run any processes to actually make Windows run? Is it something that runs pre-windows load? From the bios maybe? Just wondering if it's not a process from within windows, but something that's utilizing the CPU underlying.

Not sure how bootcamp functions.

Maybe has something to do with you are running it from within mac OS, so if your mac's OS and the bootcamp thing is using CPU cycles it'll show up in the windows task manager but no windows process will show using it. I'm not sure how macs and the bootcamp thing works, if it is within mac OS or what but if so that would be my guess as to what is happening.

Bootcamp is outside Mac OS.. It allows you to partition the drive and have a seperate bootable drive with another operating system. However, i know that Mac uses an EFI bios (or something to that effect), not sure what it uses to allow XP/Vista to install and run.

I'm not positive but I think it does some kind of bios emulation.
