CPU usage isolated to 2nd core

I have a Quad 6600.
Vista 64.

There is a Program that overtaxes my computer.
It flatlines the CPU Usage of the 2nd core.

It is the only "overt program" running when I am using it.
"Microsft essentials", etc. would also be running.

When I look at the CPU usage History, I see that almost all the work is being done by the 2nd Core.

Is there any way to optimize such a program or a way to tell my computer to reserve this 2nd core for this program only?

Any Suggestion?

Thank You!

If you right-click the Process for the application, select the 'set affinity' option. What does it show you?

It shows checkmarks in all 4 CPU boxes.

Then it's probably just the way they wrote the program. Maybe they did it on purpose, assuming other programs would be using the first core, but not thinking about people having more than two.

Just a guess though.

So, you could go through and uncheck core 2 for some other programs. Just bear in mind that only lasts until your next reboot.
