cpu usage at 100% intermittently

Hi,
I have a 1.4gHz t-bird and ECS k7s5a motherboard running with winxp.

I notice that when I open up the "task manager" and go to the performance tab. The cpu usuage goes from one 100% to normal usuage and back to one 100% in repetitive intervals. It does this continuously.

Does anyone know what this means? Is my cpu a weird chip and should I return it or is it something with the motherboard? Or does no one have a clue like me. I think it's weird and it's got me uneasy.

i was having that problem too....check the "processes" section of task manager, it will tell you how much of the CPU each application is using, i found out it was a file i installed through WINXP Plus, a voice recogniton program.
