I have noticed that when downloading a large file or files, from the internet at high speed my CPU usage goes up to 100%.
I could be downloading files from steam, GOG or elsewhere the result is the same. The application gets a very high usage and then other application bring the usage up to 100. Only when it has finished downloading, or I stop it, does it all come down to a normal level.
It's the downloading at high speed which causes this problem. Everything else works just fine. It seems to be a Windows problem.

I'm at a loss on what to do.

My PC is still relatively new (May 2021)

i7 10700k
MSI Z490 tomahawk
16 GB DDR4 3200 RAM
RTX 2060
1T M.2
2T hard drive

Win 10 Home edition - 21h2 19044.1526 (the latest version I think)

Thanks for the link to the article, but it does not mention problems while downloading.
My PC works fine when I play games, use editing software and so on. Only when it is downloading at high speed the problem comes up.

If you are using Chrome based (including MS Edge) browsers, see if any extension is causing the issue (use Chrome's own task manager).

Firefox could have same problem if you are using add-on/plugin that does not behave.

I'd try a newer (or older) network adapter driver, and if running any type of security suite/app, disable that and see if it makes a difference.

However, you can't necessarily go by what happens with the gaming platform downloaders, because if you have a sufficiently high download speed (what is your download speed?) simultaneously it's trying to decompress/unpack the files.

A better test would be using a browser, or if you really want to hammer it, then use a P2P app that makes a huge # of connections for multiple simultaneous downloads.

I've also seen cases where systems were put into a busy loop from a dodgy network cable or switch, etc intermittent connection.

Heh... 4 months later... thanks for posting the solution, which I assume is just uninstall it, or was that fixed in a newer version?
