CPU upgrade recommendations

Hi,

My specs are as follows:

1. 975X intel mobo http://www.legendmicro.com/store/50...vacot-Gateway-4001154---New-OEMD975XLAG1.lmsp)

2. Intel Core 2 Duo E6400

3. 4GB DDR2 memory

4. RADEON X1300/X1550 SERIES GPU

5. ATI ALL IN WONDER 640 TV CARD

I use my PC mostly for Playing H.264, video editing and photoshop.

Please recommend the best compatible CPU that I can upgrade. Looking for the best bang for the buck rather than the GREATEST AND LATEST.

Get a newer Intel board if you can change one out. Even a g31 or g41 chipset should run just about any newer 775. Microcenter has had the 9550 for as low as $169. With an Intel brand board, you might avoid a format. Your 975 probably won't run wolfdale's.
