Alrighty I built my system and started up and it kept freezing in the post, eventually I replaced Athlon xp 2000 with a 1.4g thunderbird and all my problems went away. I RMAed the processor for a new one and just received it and the same thing is happening. I was just wondering I anyone here knew why this was happening and how I could fix it.

My System

Epox 8k3a+
Athlon 1.4g (Athlon Xp 2000)
Msi Geforce 4 ti4600
512 Corsair pc2700 ddr
Turbolink 420w PS
Lite-on 40x12x48 cd-burner
Samsung 16x dvd-rom

Thanks

What bios revision number do you have ? Try upgrading to the latest if not ? Put in tbird, change memory to cas 2.5 or 3, then put in Xp2000 ?

Yes, I would make sure you have flashed the lastest bios. If you have then you might have to tame your ram settings. Tis a pity though... that is some mean memory that you have there.

Here you go dude... I went ahead and did a little research for you... here's a link to the bios revision page for your board on the Epox site... check it out...

Epox Bios for Epox 8k3a+

The one marked as follows might be your solution:

8k3a2328.exe 3/28/2002

Though the newer revision covers all previous bugs (at least it should)... Hope This Helps...

Well after experimenting for awhile with different bioses(what is the plural of bios?) this is what i've come up with..

2619 - What i was orignally using so that wouldn't help it got me to post code C1

2328 - Flashed to this and it got me all the way to post code 52

2312 - Currently using it get me all the way to FF but then freezes before loading windows

I did all this with memory set to normal mode. So i'm stumped. I might try the earliest revison later just to see if it gets me anywhere.

Try a different stick of memory and/or a different vid card... other than that... I don't feel your pain... but I understand...
