I want to replace a Slot 1 Celeron with a Coppermine CPU on a Tyan S1846S 440BX motherboard. The Tyan site says this MB will take a 600-800 Coppermine .018 CPU with an upgrade to the BIOS. I'm wonder why they don't include the 500E, 533E and 550E Intel CPUs on their list. Also, Tyan doesn't say if the board is capable of supplying the lower voltages to the CPU. I'm guessing that the board has a voltage regulator that senses the requirements of the CPU. Also, I'm interested in using a Flip Chip PGA and slot converter in this upgrade. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
