Cpu upgrade help needed

I have a Dell XPS R-350. I would like to upgrade to a P-III 800 or 850. Which would be the best CPU to upgrade on this type of PC. It's got 100 fsb, I'm not real adept at screwing around uner the hood so which would be the best choice requiring the least screwing around with anything else(i.e. Voltage, fan, slot)Any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you

If your motherboard supports them, then they are both basicly the same. Make sure Dell says you can use them.

Most likely, you'll just have to plug in the new cpu (and fan) and it will need nothing else. Removing the old cpu will probably be the hardest part 🙂

I know that Dell doesn't support changing the CPU so I'm on my own. I just want to make sure I'm on the right track. My PC has a 440BX motherboard was told I need a SECC2 type CPU. Will this type, the Intel800 or 850mhz, 100 fsb, fit into the same slot that I currently have without having to rig something to hold it in place?
Thanks again, Brent
