Hi, I have a Windows 2000 PC running on this configuration:
- Pentium II 350Mhz
- Abit BX6-II
- 128MB PC100 RAM
- Diamond TNT2 Ultra 32MB

Anyway, I found this system to be too slow for business apps. I usually open 5 to 6 apps at the same time while playing MP3 and video conferencing with others.

I think I need a CPU upgrade and I want to upgrade to a Celeron 766Mhz CPU.

However, Abit BX6-II latest BIOS only supports up to Celeron 566Mhz.
See this page:
http://www.abit-usa.com/english/download/bios update/bios-bx6r2.htm

What can I do? Thanks. I really need the 766Mhz with a major upgrade.

click on my "web" sig and i tested bx6r2 up to a 850 fc-pga (100fsb) using slocket. But you'll have to manual adjust the fsb/multiplier. It even overclocks to 935 using 110x8.5.

Running RC5 constantly! 800 slot 1 also works (100FSB)

So a slot 1 p3-800 (100 fsb) also works on abit bx6-2? So I wouldnt need a slocket? What settings do I need in the bios (multipliers, voltage, etc.)? I don't plan on overclocking. Thanks!

You can run any celeron II or PIII, slot1 or socketed. Your bios multiplier may not go as high as the chip, but it's locked on the cpu and will override the multiplier chosen in bios. Set the bus and voltage and carry on.
