I had a reasonable 4.4-4.6 Ghz stable OC on my P8z77/3770k, but decided to screw around a bit and push it to the limits.
Anyway, I've got a problem. The CPU ratio is stuck at 48x. I wouldn't mind, if it was a sensible and stable value, but it's difficult to keep cool and stable at this speed.
It doesn't matter what I set in the BIOS, the ratio is stuck at 48x. I've tried reseting the BIOS to defaults, recalling my saved profile, resetting the CMOS via jumper; cold boots, warm boots, power disconnected for 5 minutes. Nothing can shift it. The turbo multiplier is completely stuck!
In the BIOS utility itself, everything looks great. Multipliers and target speeds all look legit.
Trying Asus "AI tuner" doesn't help. It tweaks bus speed a bit, but all that happens is that the CPU tries to clock at 4.94 and BSODs before getting into Windows.
CPU mutiplier has been verified in windows task manager, openHardwareMonitor and CPU-Z. The system also fails stability tests at CPU voltage less than 1.5V!, suggesting that the CPU really is going for that speed.
Does anyone know what to do to unstick it? Has anyone even heard of this? I simply can't understand this.
