There is a computer show that comes around my area every once in awhile and there is a guy that attends it that has trays and trays of used P4 1.7GHz CPU's. He sells them REALLY cheap. Only problem is that there is no way to tell if they work or not untill you get them home and put them your own computer to test them out. I was wondering if there is such a thing as a portable CPU tester that I can take with me to the show to test them BEFORE I buy them. Has anybody heard of anything like that. I guess I could bring a laptop and take off the back and just sit there and check them that way, but I'd rather not do it that way.

Thanks Folks!

How cheap? If its like $10, take a chance or two. If you get one working cpu sell it on ebay or something and you just made profit unless you plan on using it

They are going for $20 a piece. That was what I wanted to do. Sell it in Ebay and make some serious scratch. That's why I want the tester. The guy has TRAYS and TRAYS, last time he had at least 150-200 of these things. He lets you test them first, if you can. If I could get a tester, hell, I'd buy $1000 worth and make a small fortune on Ebay. There has got to be something out there to use. Does anybody have any websites to recommend for this kind of stuff?

What about a laptop. Do any of them use regular P4 1.7 GHz. He also has 1.3 and 1.4 GHz chips. Maybe I could pick up a cheap laptop and take off the back and sit there on the floor like some ultimate geek dweeb swapping cpu's in and out of my laptop. My fiancee would probably leave me if she saw me doing that. Then again, I'd be making money that would probably at least get spent on her a little bit I figure. I don't even know if the CPU is that accesible in a laptop. Never been inside one. Yes, I am kinda ashamed to admit that. Don't rub it in too bad guys. Hmmm, what to do?
