Hey i got up to college and have no AC my CPU temps are around 50 C now. I bought a retail 1.2 GHZ Athlon, just left the retail fan on. Is there a good fan for me to get the temps down? I want to keep this under 30 bucks if possible. Any good stores??

it all depends. If you want something quiet (which won't work as well) or something that screams (which will do the job very well). Also what heatsink do you have? Some can take bigger fans (80 mm), which push more air but are quieter.

If you don't mind a lot of noise go the the Delta Black Label, otherwise look into either upgrading your heatsink, or buying a different fan (sorry I'm not too sure which are good, quiet, fans for HSFs).

There are a couple of guys on these forums that can sell you fans for a pretty fair price. Just look around.

Cheap one...Volcano II, GlobalWin WBK38, Taisol seems to be a decent HSF...definately better than the stock HSF u r using. Price...not sure thou.

50c is relatively cool temp for a 1.2ghz Athlon, certainly well within operational ranges. Why try to fix something that isn?t broken? Unless you plan on doing overclocking that is?

My 1.2 ran around that temps and I never had any issues. Sometimes got up to 53c. Have you tried any thermal goop, like ASII?
