A friend of mine got an Intel D955XBK motherboard, despite the fact that I advised against it. Now he's looking to get a processor. I found an Intel page which lists the supported CPUs for the board here:

http://www.intel.com/support/m...55xbk/sb/CS-026574.htm

My question is, has anyone used this board and had it work with a different processor such as a C2D? The last update on the supported CPU page was in 9/06 so it may not be fully current.

I agree w/ you: your friend probably should not have gotten it.

The 955X chipset only supports Pentium 4 and Pentium D: no Core 2. That is a bummer.

Intel® Pentium® processor Extreme Edition
Intel® Pentium® 4 processor Extreme Edition supporting Hyper-Threading Technology
Intel® Pentium® 4 processor supporting Hyper-Threading Technology
Intel® Pentium® D processor

This is what Newegg has left that will work with the 955X:

Pretty slim pickins....maybe the Pentium D 925, or, go cheap and go Celeron...

Or, Ebay or the FS forums here?
