CPU Thermal Data

I've been looking at thermal test data for Arctic silver - and others. It seems that that the paste/epoxy only makes a couple degrees difference. I suspect that the choke point for the thermal flow is between the generation site within the cpu, and its package surface. Does anyone have any data on this?

Depends on how the temp difference is measured. SOcket-thermsitor = few c difference. Internal core temp measured = Usually 4 to 7C difference depending on the type of cpu used nad compound beign compared to
