CPU temps

I downloaded Everest to check my CPU temperatures but it was giving me the temperature of each core, and like the temperature of something else, but I'm not sure which one I should use. When people say their CPU runs at 37 degrees Celsius, which temperature are they using? The temperature of the cores or what?

Which CPU?

From what I remember the core temps on intel cpus is what you go by.

AMD on the other hand, all cores report same temp, so it is best to go by CPU temp (usually TMP2)

currently on my 1090T i have it at 100% use doing distributed computing. 4.1ghz @ 1.47v the core temps state 43C, while the CPU temp is 49C. - I would really doubt the cores running at 43c is correct.

Also can anyone who views this thread please give me your CPU temperatures idle and under full load so I can compare mine. Please also state what CPU you have and how much you've over clocked it. Thanks!

I just use real temp and when I state my temps its th e hottest core. My 2500k is water cooled.

My idle temps this AM 20,22,21,20 as it was a little nippy last night. I'm running at 4.5ghz. During extreme prolonged loads I'm in the 60's. During normal use I may hit in the 40's.

Core I5 2500k @ 4.2Ghz using the multiplier only with no manual voltage tweaking, not in a case just sitting on tabletop
Ran prime95 for about 15 min, Max CPU temp I witnessed was 163F(72C) on the 3rd core, ambient room temp was 66F .

SB's wind up the heat very quickly don't they :)

Your temps seem reasonable for air. I often wonder how many *c others shave off theirs before posting temps. Some stated temps seem unreasonable on air unless said person lives in a igloo.

Your temps seem trainable for air. I often wonder how many *c others shave off theirs before posting temps. Some stated temps seem unreasonable on air unless said person lives in a igloo.

This, and if the speeds they post are actually stable.

'I'm at 1.5v on a 2500k @ 5000mhz, and I'm idling at 17C!! It posts to Windows, so It's gotta be stable, yo!'

I'm looking to be faster than norm and quiet, my idle temp is about 10F above ambient at a reported 6-7 watts (cpu) usage. Idle, meaning just surfin' and such. no heavy use. But when Prime95 runs the fan speeds up and it certainly gets louder! Otherwise it's virtually silent. The build will be finished by Monday 19 Dec 2011. You can look at it then.
