cpu temps

Hi guys,

i heard a lot about the operation temperature of the core 2 duo processors...At intel's website, the max temperature of my processor (e2180) is 73,2 , measured at the top of the integrated heatspreader. And the temperatures of the individual cores, what is the max?

i got 64c on the cores, e 45c on cpu...

Most people balk at core temperatures higher than 65C. Your CPU is a little hot, but I'd say it's otherwise fine.

tjunction is typically 15C or so higher than tcase. For my E2180 coretemp reports a max tjunction of 100C, and I believe the CPU is rated for around 71C max tcase. tcase refers to the casing temperature, not temperature inside your PC case. =)

Run coretemp and find out.

You got this temp reading...when? Was it when you were running Orthos or some similar stress test? If so, your real world temps will rarely approach that, so you are fine.
