CPU temps during GPU oc

This is my first attempt at ocing so you can laugh at me if you want as long as you answer my questions, lol.

I am using RivaTuner 2.1 to oc my Zotac 9800gtx. I set up Fan profiles, schedules, etc. The card is stock. I oced 800/2000/1200 from 675/1688/1100. 42c idle and I ran 3dmark06 (13400 score) and it went up to 60c then cooled back down. I then installed CPU-z, HWmonitor and oced my cpu e8400 through BIOS (FSB 366 from 333). I didn't change the voltage. Everything loaded fine but when I ran hwmonitor, I noticed the GPU was 58c-60c idle. I set the GPU to default and it was still 58c-60c. The cpu was 42c idle.

So, my questions are: are those temps normal? Is running GPU fan at 60% constantly ok? I don't want to do anything dramatic with the oc. Just something to get a little extra performance without changing voltage or buying a cooler for the GPU. I have a CPU f/hs. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Nah, cant really delete it. Just let it die.

But I am sure if you change the title of the thread, you will get some help for your CPU.

Then maybe post in Video for the GPU.

EDIT: Yes, I see you did post in video. Just change the title of this one for CPU temps or something.

It's more a GPU ?, i haven't ran into any problems with the CPU but if you see a problem with that cpu oc, could you let me know? I posted it in the video card section, thanks for your help.

How long has the Xigmatek been installed ? If not very long, I have read that it takes a while *not sure how long though* for the paste to properly lower temps. Someone should post and correct me if im wrong here.

I would imagine for that cooler though, it should be a *little* cooler than that. But what temps are you expecting exactly ? And is your cpu running at 3.4?

Cooler has been installed since build which was the first week of August. So it's brand new. I don't know what temps to expect since it's my first attempt at oc but after doing research, it seems that 42c might be a little high. I might have to take it down a little bit.

I don't know if it's running 3.4. CPU-z is showing my mulitplier at x6 and 2.003 speed idle. I haven't really had a chance to test the CPU oc yet. When I do, i'll post and let you know what comes about.

Do you have speed step disabled ? At least that is what I think its called ?

Well im not sure if it would help, but it wont downclock your cpu in 2D when its disabled. With it enabled...your cpu will clock itself up while in 3D.

I think ?

Find out what your exact cpu oc speed is first.
