I was wondering when everybody mentions their idle temps for their cpu's, is it with a software cooling program like rain, asus' cooling software, or is it without the aid of any software and people really have 25C temps on their own.

right now my cpu is reporting 118C, but my sensor is fugd up. Used to idle at 49C so I stuck a different HSF on and smashed the sensor doing so:(

My CPU reports 6C.:p

Of course I have no idea where CPUCool is getting that number, I have a PIII katmai with no thermal sensor at all

Your CPU temp is dependent on the type of cooling you have, and also on the ambient case temperature, which is in turn dependent on the ambient room temperature and the type of case cooling you have. So, its possible to have a 25C CPU temp with the aid of good cooling(peltier setups for example) or a very low case/room temp.

my cpu temp, right now, is 26 C, without any programs. Usually, however, I use Rain 2.0. The only reason why it is not in use right now is because I just formatted my computer. I heard that CPUIdle is a good program too.
