cpu temp ?

Well I figured my 3500 venice would run a lot cooler than it does with a Zalman 7000 on it....

Its idling at 41 and topping out around 52. Ambient temps are rather high but these numbers seem a lot higher than anyone else i've seen that posted temps. This is my first build, I am a little worried that I will burn something up before I can enjoy my new system. Any advice? Thanks
 
no overclocking whatsoever, any chance the temp. sensors are not calibrated right? Or am I just reaching for straws now

It's not really a problem, but it isn't what it's supposed to be (did that sentence make sense?).

Yeah makes sense, I may try and put on the stock AMD cooler and see what happens. Thanks

You know, i am starting to really wonder about Zalman.

I have a 7000Cu something or other model, & i too am getting what seems to be way too high temps.

I keep seeing threads all over about high temps, & in every case it seems, the poster is using a Zalman...

I think i'm gonna try using the stock HSF & see what happens.
 
do you live in a warm region?
I know for my cpu (A64 3000+ winchester) I have about 15c difference between winter and summer.
 
At 25C room temp with a good case, the nominal full load temp of this CPU (under Prime95 max heat) is between 43 and 48C. Add about 1C for each 1C rise in room temp above 25C.

Those temp readings look okay if your room temp is above 25C.
 
I'm running an A64 3000+ NC. When I was running stock with a cheap Speeze/Masscool HS, I was getting 44 idle, 52-54 load. That was in January in Delaware. I replaced the HS with a Freezer 64, OC'ed a tad, (from 2000 to 2200) and reduced my vcore to 1.45. I'm now running at 41 idle and 48-49 load (with the occasional 50 on REALLY hot days). Could it be better? If I didn't have such a crappy case with poor airflow, yes. But overall, for 90% of folks out there (not including those on this forum, since most here take great care to have effeciently cooled systems) it's fairly normal. Heck, my old Compaq P4 at work ran roughly the same temps stock, and it's much cooler in my office since I'm not footing the AC bill 😉
 
Results? I can vouch for him, as he also lives in Memphis, that we DO live in a very hot region. We have had record highs the past couple of days.
 
touch the hsf while the cpu is under load and see if its warm. it should be warm. if not, you probably have bad contact. get AS5 and follow the directions on their site for applying it.
