CPU Temp will not read on Tforce 6100

I finally had a little bit of time to play with the OC on this board after installing everything last night.

At first, the CPU temp was reading correctly (29-30C), now it is reading in the negatives, usually under -100C in the BIOS! Is this some type of a known issue? Should resetting the BIOS via a jumper fix it? It also will not at all read the CPU temp in any monitoring applications, including the Biostar one or Everest.

I am not sure what version of the BIOS is on the board, where can I check that? It was very very very late last night, so I didn't look to hard. The version stamped on the board is 1.2 and it is the s754 version as well.

Also, the vcore jumps from 1.55 to 1.65 in the BIOS. And this chip (Palermo 3000+) was stable at 2700 @ 1.63v on my Asus board (as read by the utility), but at 1.65v, which gives me 1.63v-1.65v, it failes Prime after 4-6 minutes. I even backed off the FSB a few steps, but still the same problem. It may be my power supply undervolting. If the 12v rail is down by a certain percent, that would be the same percent that the processor is not able to draw, correct?

Anyhow, I will likely lower it to 2400 to keep it cool because it will be in a Quiet HTPC anyway, but I at least need to monitor the voltage.

Thanks for any help.

I would use a different program, such as cpu-z, to check the rest of your system specs. If everything else appears to be correct and your system is stable, I wouldn't worry too much the temp change. Your bios version will be listed at the top of the post screen on most boards. I wouldn't flash the bios unless you see a spec change listed related to your temp fluctuation.

I used Everest to check all of my stats, and the motherboard is no longer reading the CPU or the case/motherboard temps. It only lists temperatures for the drives. What other specs should I look for to make sure that they are correct?

Also, I went ahead and flashed to the newest BIOS (lazily not checking). Nothing has changed, so it appears that I already had the newest BIOS.

On the S754 version of the Tforce 6100, the BIOS version appears at the bottom left of the screen during boot, at least for the 02/07/2006 BIOS version.

I had this board in the closed for awhile. I kept it because it was so cheap, and it overall still worked. I recieved a Clawhammer 3400+ for super cheap, put it in there and fired it up last night. Magically, the temperature reads fine now! I'll have to see if it stays that way...

Anyone else run into these issues?
