CPU Temp Sensor

I posted this in cases also but haven't had any responses. Maybe someone in here could help me...

I bought a case today for a PC that I am building for a friend. The case has three sensors to read the system, hard drive and CPU temp. My question is how do you hook them up? They are just a flat sensor attached to 2 wires and then there are 3 small pieces of tape. Do I tape the sensor on the processor between the processor and the fan? Also what about the other 2?

OK! The temp diode should NOT go between the CPU and HSF, thats just asking for a fried CPU.

For the HD you can just tape that sensor pretty much anywere on the HD. For the case, that can go just about anywhere. And for the CPU, if its an Athlon XP it might be able to fit NEXT to the cpu core as long as it doesn't make the HSF not sit properly on the CPU core, if you know what i mean. If not then im not sure what you could do.

Taping the cpu sensor to the underside of the heatsink should get a pretty accurate reading, provided the die-to-heatsink connection is secure... and of course that's something you won't really know for sure. So try what the other guy said, cozy the sensor up to the side of the die, maybe even tape is on the ceramic part of the cpu (or organic or whatever it is). Either way, don't put it between the die and the heatsink.

Thanks guys. I actually didnt mean on the die when I said between the cpu and heatsink. I meant somewhere on the ceramic part of the cpu. I taped it on there and it seems to work ok.
