CPU Temp question

So, I just installed a q9550 and I'm just using the stock heatsink and testing the cpu a little bit to get an idea of the temp range. On idle I am around 35, 35, 37 and 37 for the cores using real temp. On full load I just tested for only about 30 minutes using prime95 and it reaches 70, 65, 65, 65 for the cores. I was reading around and it seems this is an ok range for my processor. I just wanted to check with you guys and get your input. If you think it might be a little high maybe I'll go buy an aftermarket heat sink but I will probably not overclock this cpu.

That sounds ok for the stock heatsink, last time I checked the heatsink for the 45nm quads was still half-height, with a copper core. Not too beefy. (Imagine the Q6600 copper core heatsink, but half the size.)

You really should invest in an aftermarket heatsink if you want to overclock, though.

Yeah, that's why I was kinda hesitant. The stock heat sink was half the height of the other intel stock heatsink. lol wasn't expecting that.

The temps are ok as long as your not gonna overclock the chip I wouldn't worry about it.

If you are thinking about overclocking the chip then it's not like you'll have to spend big bucks on a aftermarket cooler anyways....Unless you wanna shoot for something like 3.8ghz or above.

These CPU's are built just like GPU to get hot. Its actually healthy for it.

Optimal cooling full throttle loads to be in 50's and 60's c
Intel recommends their CPU temp at load should be 60's and 70's worst case, and still live a long life

Your temps are safe until you reach 85c then the CPU will just shut off so CPU doesnt get harmed or damaged in any way.

As guru said, you must get a after market HSF if he wants to OC the bugeegees off the CPU. lol

Fine temps, should do fine if you're not gonna overclock. I'd actually pick up a cheap cooler like the Hyper 212+ (was like $23, check the hot deals section). Mine's running under a TRUE @ 3.6 w/ 1.2v. Idling around 28-32c and loading ~48-50c. It's not too hard to overclock.
