CPU Temp Problems

In my PC, my CPU is running REALLY high temps...like 75 celcius just by sitting in BIOS. Something is reading wrong. Is there anyway to fix this? The problem is my computer shuts off automatically at 120 and thats the highest it will go. I know its reading wrong because I stick my hand in there and its cold. 🙁

I use a IR temperature probe to take percise readings on my rigs and clients' rigs. I've been checking the Intel CPUs on my old rig and some others. The temps are almost 20C/22C higher than AMDs. Not to worry. That's normal.

Using the software temp probes are not as reliable as the 'real thing' and I want the satisfaction of knowing before something happens. My IR probe is from Sears at $26. As I mentioned before to someone else, using one's finger isn't the best way. 🙂

Why take a chance when you might cook your system?

the problem is my computer is auto shutting off when i know it is and BIOS wont let me go over 120 degrees celcius. Can I change that?
