CPU temp issue? HDD problem?

ok, i have two issues with my build 🙁 (FYI im a first timer). the first is an issue with my hard drive. i have a western digital sata-300 drive and a p4p800se mobo(asus). the puter says theres no drive attached. how many cables should be hooked into the drive cause theres a sata cable to the board, a cable that looks like a bigger version of sata cable that goes to psu and a regular 4 prong power cord connect spot. do all need to be hooked in?

second is more a question than an issue. im running a 3ghz prescott with a thermaltake hsf. the hsf doesnt look like anything more than basic and im worrying from reading reviews that prescotts over heat. im wondering if this hsf is sufficient. my cpu is at 56.5 celcius, just at bios setup, and the board is at 40 degrees. is this too hot?

-thanks 🙂

Hehe - you only gave an hour and a half for a response? I think most (if not all) forum-goers here check the board once a day or so. I'd give things a day or so before you get some solid responses.

Typically four things on the back of a SATA drive to worry about: jumpers (typically unused), 4-pin power connector, 15-pin SATA power, and 7-pin data. The smaller 7-pin SATA cable needs installed (as you have), and either power connector, depending on what you have in your PSU available.

3gig Prescott? Ur temps are fine. 🙂
