First off, i just want to say that I've always been a total noob in doing this kind of stuff so any help is greatly appreciated.

For years i've dealt with heat issues with my XP 2000+, over the years i'd get temps ranging from 55C all the way to 70C or sometimes higher. Its summer now and my xp 2000+ is going through the same faze its going through the years before. For the life time i had my pc, i've added/removed case fans, spent money on 5 different kinds of heatsinks, attempted to bundle my cables, applied different kinds of thermal compounds like AS 1-3 and etc. I've tried all options (that i know of) and i was never able to bring down the cpu temps.

Up until now i was doing more research on google and came upon a forum where a person said by just lowering the vcore voltage by .5 can greatly reduce the cpu temp. I checked on amds website and i noticed that the nominal voltage for my processor name and model is 1.75. I look on my asus probe (and used Everest) and both are indicating vcore going as low as 1.79 all the way up to 1.81!!!!! Could this be the reason for my high cpu temps for all these years? i know this might sound so noobish to you guys. LOL .... My question is if i lower the vcore down to 1.75 will it finally lower my temps and are there any other settings that i might have to change along with vcore to not cause any system instability? Any help is appreciated and as always thx in advance!!!! :)

basically your motherboard overvolts

all you will be doing is compensating for your board

if you set it at 1.75 it will do 1.79. so, just reduce it, untill it gets there. make sure you prime it tho, you dont want to go so low that its not stable.

I dont know about your temps going down drastically, but you will notice a good sized decrease. (Try setting the voltage even lower and seeing if it will still be stable)

It seems that your correct. i just went to the bios and it is indeed set to 1.75. However I can't change it, the area is greyed out. Anyone can tell me why is this or is there a way to have this changed so i can set vcore setting?

There probably is some setting you have to change to manual. Forgot the name though

alright, this sux... i just reinstalled my hsf and applied a fresh coat of as3 and for some reason im getting higher temps then before. ARGH! i feel like taking this board and smashing it! If anyone here has any suggestion im all ears, because frankly i just about gave up. Geeezzz, i reinstall the hsf so many times i can probably do this in my sleep now.

BTW, Everest is reporting a CPU diode temp and a CPU temp. Which one is best to go by? As of right now my diode is reading 66C and CPU temp 62C, case temp 32C. Again any suggestions is appreciated.
