Question CPU support for PCIe 4

Hi, everyone. Have a question that may seem illogical, but I’m kinda puzzled. I like to build my PCs by buying all components and assembling it myself.
In order to build a desktop PC with an AMD processor (my first non-Intel build), which will support PCIe 4, do I need to include a CPU with PCIe 4 support? It is clear the motherboard must provide such support, and all motherboards explicitly list the versions of PCIe they support, however, while reading AMD processors’ specs, I have been unable to find an explicit listing for which PCIe versions they support, which has left me thoroughly confused.

You definitely need a CPU that supports PCIe 4. So Ryzen 3000 and 5000 on desktop (except "G" APUs). If you buy a motherboard that supports PCIe 4 but insert a, for example, Ryzen 2000 CPU it will only run at PCIe 3 because that is all the CPU is capable of supporting.
