CPU speed showing as 200MHz!

I've just built a new PC. Haven't installed windows yet. The PC shows the processor correctly as being an AMD Athlon 64 3400+, but says CPU speed 200MHz! Any idea why? Anything to do with the FSB speed?

My specs are:

AMD Athlon 64 3400+ 512KB cache
Gigabyte K8NS Pro NForce 3 Motherboard
Magna 500W PSU
1 GB 3200 RAM (Elixir brand)
Geforce 6800GT 256MB Grapihics
200GB Maxtor DiamondMax 10 SATA Hard drive

Thanks!

I can't use that program yet, as I'm yet to install windows. I was hoping to get it sorted before installing windows; I thought maybe it might be a motherboard jumper or BIOS setting. The only mention of 200 MHz in the BIOS is the CPU overclock facility, which is set to 200MHz. Is this the FSB setting and thus needs raising before the processor will speed up? Or is the boot screen simply not displaying the actual processor speed correctly?

My guess

200 MHz is the operating frequency and the multiplier multiplies that 200 to acquire the frequency of your CPU i.e. Athlon 64 3200+ w/ 512KB cache (200 x 11 = 2200MHz/2.2GHz)

OK thanks, that sounds pretty likely. Do I have to set the multiplier up, or is it already?

Should be set to what it's suppose to be set by default. You can check however with CPU-Z after installation of the O/S.
