the 2600+ you have is basically 12.5 X 166Mhz FSB. YOU have to increase your front-side bus from 133 Mhz to 166Mhz. Goto BIOS setup and change the bus frequency to 166 Mhz, and that should solve your problem

Turns out i cant do 165. I get severe font corruption and an unstable system. Vid card doesn't like the higher frequencies. Any suggestions?

Thanks

after reading a review at newegg, I looks as if there is a jumper you need to change on the motherboard before the FSB can be changed. Im guessing the jumper sets it to go from 133-165 166-200. youll have to read the manual that came with the motherboard to find this.

Thanks for the help guys. It was a jumper on the mobo. I had it set to 133. Changed it to 166 and all is fine.

I am sorry to waste your to when I could have solved by reading the damned manual.

Thanks again....I am old and forgetful.:)

Throw it up to 200 and see if your 2600 can be read as a 3200. :) That's fun stuff.
