CPU - slow it down

Got some business software that runs in dos and will not run on a platform faster than 500 mz
Got a 750 mz notebook and looking for some software that could slow the processor down...HELP

will not run on a platform faster than 500 mhz? or does not support your processor? I've never heard of an app being limited by speed itself... but if it's the processor, that might be the case.... perhaps some virtualization/emulation software?

Can you run softfsb lower the fsb speed.

I don't know how much luck you'll have slowing down a notebook, but I've had to deal with this same problem in the past. The best, and probably cheapest, answer is to have an older second machine just for software like this. That's why I still have my old 486 DX4 and my "real" backup machine, an original Athlon 650.

Some Bios options allow you to put cpu's into "safe" or "compatible" mode. We had it on Dell's and it slowed them down to nothing.

Since it's a notebook, you might be able to set it to "maximum battery life", I don't know how much that would throttle it but I'd imagine it would help.
