CPU Sheath

Any ideas on how to make a home-made CPU sheath, like the ones Dell uses? I'm using an Antec SLK3700BQE case, with an Asus A7N8X-X motherboard.
 
I would say not to have one, especially if you have side fans. I don't think the Dell sheaths help at all, I think they basically just restrict air flow inside of your case.
 
They only use those ducts so they can use one fan for the system. A chunk of plastic is cheaper than another fan and is less likely to fail.
 
A CPU duct is highly favored over at SPCR for lower temperatures and lower noise. Those guys are kings of airflow.

It's a good idea.
 
OIC, well I upped my fan RPM to 2800 from 2200, and although not completely silent anymore, my temps dropped 5' C, so, i'm content with 44'C I'll look into other possibilities, thanks for the input guys.

REALLY!? well that changes some stuff, alright, how would you go about making your own? I was thinking about something like this; make a duct like the dells do, because my PSU is hot, I wanna create seperate temp zones. but on the side that would be facing down, leave it completely open, so it can still draw an airflow from the rest of the system?

Er... that wasn't a very coherent thought.

The best job I've seen done was by taking one of those wiremesh containers from target\walmart that are made for desks. Like the pen holder type deals. Then you take the bottom off of it, leaving it open on both ends, and wrap it in saran wrap. Then you very carefully align it with your Zalman & case door and figure out how to make the cut in the door. I'll try and find the SPCR thread for you where he tells exactly how to do it.
 
You can get a duct kit in silver or blue from SVCompucycle.com if you don't want to mod one of your own.

I just made a duct out of a 2L 7Up bottle (its green so it looks cool thru my window). I set my CPU fan to pull air thru my heatsink. This hot air is then exhausted trhu this duct, with a Tt Smart case Fan 2 at the back of my case. The cool thing is, it lowered my NB temps because it pulls air up, from the case, thru my NB's heatsink.
