CPU settings in BIOS: Aggressive vs. Optimal?

MichaelD

Lifer
Out of all the settings in the BIOS, this is one i've never messed with.

I'm currently running an overclocked system:

8RDA+ (May 03 bios)
XP2100 (10.5 x 200 @ 1.750v)
1Gb PC3200.

The memory is at CAS2.5, b/c while they are both 512mb Corsair sticks, they don't play well at 200MHz, CAS2.

I've never tried setting the CPU to "Aggressive" I've always just left it at the default "optimal."

Any ideas or comments?

I don't have any experience with that board, but it might cause stability problems or mess with your oc, and the gains wouldn't be noticable in anything but synthetic benchmarks... I'd just leave it alone.

Thanks, but my curiousity got the better of me...it always does. I did mess w/it last night.

Don't know what I was expecting, but I didn't see anything different, really. 3DM score went up maybe 200 points, but that's neither here nor there, as 3DM usually varies from try-to-try by that much anyway.

I gamed for awhile, then ran P95 while listening to MP3s and playing Solitaire (ooooh, stressful!) and nothing weird happened.

I guess I'll leave it at Aggressive until something blows up. 😀
