CPU seems to be running hot

Can't recall which mobo you ended up with but be sure to update to the most current BIOS.

'Stock' volts should be more in the 1.325v range.

If you are not going to OC you may experiment even lower. 1.3v should work fine. PhIIs are also easily under-volted if you wish to save the overall power draw at the outlet.

You need to watch the 'low-end' if you head in this direction. With C&Q enabled IIRC the minimum spec is 0.85v.

everything is stock, i haven't changed anything, and the volts is running at Vcore - 1.42V
Regardless of your temps, this stock vcore is too high. Turn off the AUTO settings in voltage in your BIOS and set it to 1.375V or 1.35V. Not sure about a 955, maybe it will even be a bit lower. A recently bought 945 in an MSI motherboard had stock voltage at 1.275V I think. Compared to my own gigabyte board that wanted my C3 965 to have an AUTO vcore of 1.4V, that was pretty nice.

...okay, which one do i change in the BIOS? i see some offset stuff, and NB, and HT..but im not sure where vcore is
