CPU seating and an 8rda+ nForce2 board ?

I noticed that the back end of the XP2200+ cpu is sticking up just a bit after putting the lock down on it. I mean, it's like the when I use the ZIF lock it makes the back part of the CPU stand/stick up slightly higher than the front part, so that the CPU is at an angle. I put the heatsink on it, and it has been working without a problem. Is that normal? Never noticed a CPU do that before. Only problem is sometimes after shutting down the computer, it won't boot up after turning it back on (everything spins up, but no POST and nothing on monitor): it gives an overclock error, 26. Only way to start up the computer after a shutdown, is to turn the PS off then back on. Then it starts up just fine. Anybody have any ideas?

The cpu should be completely flat, but it sounds like it works so I guess no bent pins... How much is it "sticking up"?

It's sticking up just barely enough for me to see the CPU's pins. When I was building this machine, I saw that, and I was like, WTF?? So, before I put the heatsink on, I unlocked the ZIF handle, and took out the CPU. I looked for bent pins, and didn't see diddly squat wrong with the cpu. So, I looked at the motherboard's CPU socket to see if I could tell if anything looked whack. Nothing. Reseated the CPU, it was flat. Lowered the locking handle, and as I was lowering it, the cpu began to raise it's back end into the air (i.e. the left and right lower end are flat, the back right and left end on the top of the square are raised). I unlocked again, took out the cpu, looked at it, nothing. Reseated, pulled down the lock, and again it raised the back end up. I figured maybe it was supposed to do that on the 8rda+ board? So, I just put the heatsink fan on, fixed everything up, and it booted up just fine, runs fine. Nothing's overclocked. It's been running fine now for a week, extended use (usually the computer's on straight through from 10:30am to 1:30 am). Only problem has been that weird seating issue and the boot up problem after turning the computer off and leaving it off overnight. Any ideas? Thanks.

Just the obvious one... maintain downward pressure on the CPU with your fingers while you lower the locking lever. :)

Yes its normal, the 8RDA+ I just built did it too. And its not good to run it with the pins up as they may not all be in contact. Just hold the chip down as you lock the lever.

Thanks. I'm going to shutdown, open this puppy up, and reseat the CPU. Hope this works and doesn't kill my CPU. Hehe.

Hmm. Apparently, there was no need to do this, since the pressure exerted on it by securing the heatsink originally, pressed the back of the cpu down into the socket. Took off the heatsink and realized this as the CPU was sitting completely inside the socket. Cool. Now if only the motherboard would stop flaking out on me on start ups after being off all night, so that I don't have to toggle the PS's switch to get it to boot up. Bah. Thanks for the suggestions.
