Just upgraded a system running a 8800GTS 320MB @ 660/2050

Before X2 3600+ @ 2.6GHz socket 939, 3Dmark06 8800 pts.

After e2180 @ 3.1GHz G31 3Dmark06 11,400 pts.

Haven't tested in games yet, but I am surprised at the 30% boost.

660 is a great overclock on 8800gTS 320. Most seem to fall to 621 range. I am getting 12.6k 3dmark06 score but I am running a quad. I am sure your 2180 still has some room to go ;)

I thought 3dMark06 was fairly CPU limited in the first place?

Yeah, I'm running WinXP SP2.

I could only push the 2180 to 3.2GHz, but it took a whole lot more voltage to get it there.

Not worth it to me, 1.39 volts, 3.1GHz and about 65C load temps in a Ultra Microfly are good enough.

Both of my kids were already running overclocked @3GHz allendales with 9600GT's.
In most games I was getting about the same fps with the 3600+ @ 2.6GHz except in
GRAW2. They were averaging about 65-70fps with an occasional dip to 50 at 1152 x 864
16AF and 4X AA with all details on high. I noticed my 8800GTS was getting 45-50fps average with an occasional dip to 30.

Now I am getting identical framerates, so GRAW2 and 3Dmark06 have both shown a very
significant increase. Haven't noticed on anything else yet, COD4 ran good on the AMD X2 and is still about the same on C2D 1MB cache.
