Due to past problems that I have had with fried motherboards and CPUs, I decided to let a local technicinan install a new MB and CPU. From recommendations from forum members I chose the MSI KT3 Ultra, and a Athlon XP22100+ CPU. Now, SiSoft Sandra and Fresh Diagnose both show the CPU to be a XP1500. My question: Do these diagnostic programs sometimes read the CPU wrong, or did this guy do a number on me?
 
I would get a new tech.

Anyway, sounds like the tech didn't set the FSB correctly. Seams about right that the FSB setting is at 100mhz and you should be at 133mhz. Not sure but you should be able to change it in the bios, perhaps a jumper.

Yeah, he pulled one on ou. There is no such thing as an Athlon XP 22100+ 😉

Like ai42 said, check the FSB.
 
That was a typo on my part. I was supposed to be a XP2100. Shouldn't the FSB be set at 133 automatically? This is a jumperless board as I understand. Another thing, this guy did not re-install my Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card because he said the on-board Microsoft Avance AC97 Audio Card was better. I sure need some assistance from you guys that know more about this than I do. (And obviously my tech as well)
 
AC97 better than a TBSC? He doesn't have a clue.

And even though the board is jumperless, there's still a setting in the BIOS for the FSB.


Definitely time to find a new tech.
