This may seem like I dumb question so please bear with me because honestly I don't know, plus I have zero experience in OverClocking! Just out of curosity! What would happen if I we're to take this AMD CPU and place it in a 266FBS low budget MB. Would the CPU step down to the MB FBS. Has anyone tried this or has had any experience with this?

Check CPU supportability for the specific mobo. I had an old 133 MHz (or 266) computer with PC133 memory. I thought about replacing Duron with 266 MHz xp-mobile but the mobo did not support XP. I don't know if it is a hardware problem or the mfgr just not providing bios upgrade.

Yes, but why in the hell would you do that?

Of course, the low budget mobo would have to support the chip.

You would probably need to get a BIOS update, and there are a few boards that may not support the Barton chips, but yes, this can be done. About the only reason I would see for this would be if you intentionally wanted to underclock the chip for heat reasons. Other than that, the price difference between old boards and decent new boards is not enough to justify this.
