Ok, so while cleaning a CPU of mine, I accidentally rubbed off the damn HSF pad on one of the corners (Athlon XP 2000+). Any suggestions on firmly reattaching it to the ceramic? Thanks in advance, Ian.

Edit: Here's some pictures for those who need a visual.

As long as you're careful when you put the heatsink on you really don't need the pad.

If it was mine I'd replace it. Those pads stabilize the HS. Just go to a craft store and pick up some plastic dots that have adhesive on one side. Or you might be able to find something similar at Radio Shack.

I replaced the NB HS on my IC7-G which has an exposed NB core and four dots were included with the Swiftech MCX159P.
