CPU Overheating

My computer shuts down when I play games like HL2, or WC3-TFT. I always thought it was my video card, but I downloaded everest today, and it says my cpu temp is 94* C while playing WC3 on low settings. Is that high enough for my computer to shut down, or could it be my videocard?

SPECS:

ABIT K8T800 PRO
AMD64 2800+
ATI 9800 PRO
1 GIG "value ram"
THERMALTAKE 480w SILENT PUREPOWER

Yeah...but I wouldn't trust one apps reporting especially since you are running a VIA chipset...that temp would shutdown likely way before that if it was real, or would likely kill it if it didn't shutdown....

I would look at a few other apps reporting temps....touch and feel the heatsink...warm?? Hot???...

It could very well be overheating from the ram or the vid card.....It is going to take some investigation...

Hmm what would you suggest i do the videocard feels hot, but not hot to the point where i cant keep my finger on it, same with my heatsink for my cpu

I am not familiar with ATI cards.....Is there a temp monitoring program for it...ATITOOLS???? With my last 2 nvidia crads 5800 and 6800 I can see the temps through the driver support....

If yuo think temps are an issue..Take off the side of the case...PLace a large floor fan pointing into the case and let it blow....If the temps drop and you dont get crashing then it is likley something is overheating, and we can go from there...

Well, I just played with the fan and i've come to the conclusion that my cpu is overheating, it was really really hot when i touched it, i'd say around 70-75* C but i'm no expert so should I just call and get an RMA from cyberpower, the company i ordered it from?

Do the easiest test in the world.

Open your case, and put a fan next to the system blowng air in. Play the game for a while and if it doesn't lock up then you know its a heating issue.
