planning to buy a new cpu
can cant decide between 2600+ or p4 2.53

whats the fastest OC i can do with a p42.53 cpu with just air cooled?
whats the fastest OC i can do with a 2600+ cpu with just air cooled?

planning to use it for 3d rendering and high-end gaming
already have a 9700 pro vid card
 
With a 2.53, you can do 2.9 or so.. the 2600 will do probably 2.6, providing you have the right hardware and cooling...
 
tstrike, all of what you "hear" about a certain CPU overclocking to such and such speed applies to that CPU only, not all CPUs of the same brand and type. What you want to find out is the _average_ overclocked speed using air cooling. That's what you can reasonably hope for. As to what you can expect, well, expect the CPU to run at what it's rated for. VeggieMan was closer in his 2.9 "or so" for a P4 2.53. AXP 2600+? Where can you actually buy one that is in stock as of right this minute?
