I make my mpegs using tsunami.

I used to run the app using a P4 2.8C oc'ed to 3.5 and with no problems. This oc has really helped shorten my times.

But nowadays, I can't get tmpgenc to finish any video without the system locking up. It only runs stable at 3.2 OC instead of the 3.5 oc. By the way, nothing has been changed in this system and room temp stays constant throughout the year.

cpu already had enough of the 250fsb oc for over a year?

TMPEnc is very cpu intensive, looks like your cpu wasnt stable as you tought it was.

Also did you test with Prime95 stress test?

TMPGenc if you go into environmental and then cpu and swith to multithreading can be quite stressful on the system...In my testing TMPGenc gained 22% with HT on versus off showing it was taking advantge of this feature....Without truly stressing the HT feature you are not truly stressing the test....

TMPGenc was such a great stress tester I would use it as a stability cpu....

List the full specs on your OC...Vcore?? Temps being reported then and now???

I also 2nd Budman...Did you prime test and if so did yu run 2 instances of it simultaneously???

Yea 1x prime at least... better off 1 x prime and looping 3dmark01. That's what I do... heats case and mobo up real good to test out stability.

PS: never look at xtremesystems for a realistic veiw of overclcoking values.. 99.9% ARE not stable.

ok, stress testing scheduled for this weekend.

this setup since june 2004:
HT enabled on 2.8C D1 stepping at 250fsb x 14 with vcore @ 1.62. 1:1 mem ratio using 2x512mb pc4000 geil ultra at spd 2.5-4-4-7 with vdimm@2.65v on abit ic7-g.
agp/pci locked. thermalright sp-94 with tornado fan.

again, tmpgenc ran just fine since june 2004 until a week ago.

Check the memory as well....Abits undervolt and maybe a touch more vdimm will help there...

What I am saying is, this could be a memory related issue as well....not necessarily a cpu issue or even a damaged from ocing event...

Yes please dont forget you ram also, there's a very good utility here http://www.memtest.org/

you can grab a bootable floppy or cdrom image if you run floppyless. :)
