Building a new system. I installed video card, memory, cpu, heatsink, psu.
It took three reboots to get a post. At that point the bios reset my cpu to 900mhz (9*100mz). I changed it to 1200 (9*133mhz).
This happened twice.
I then replaced the thermal tape with arctic silver thermal between heatsink and cpu. (Idle temp was too high)
Now when I power up I lose the screen at various stages. Sometimes I get as far as the bios setup before the screen goes.
I am still only running the basics - video card, memory, cpu, heatsink, psu.
One further note, I had a hard time with the heatsink installation the first time.
With this in mind - is the cpu damaged, the motherboard or do I have a connection problem(headers)?
I'd appreciate a best guess.
