CPU of choice

Currently I am running a:
PSU: Antec True430
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 1600+
MOBO: ABIT NF7-S nForce-2 Ultra 400

RAM: 1024 MB Kingston HyperX PC3700
VGA: Ti4200-VTD8X
and other stuff. I want to upgrade my CPU but don't know what to get.
-->I am wondering if I can or should get a Sempron, if so which's the best. For one, I don't know if it would be compatible with my mobo. I want the best CPU I can buy without having to upgrade my mobo. Best meaning mainly for gaming purposes and while sometimes simultaneously listing to music, when playing games.

I was thinking Xp mobile 2500+, but I am not sure if that would be the best.

thanks for your replies.

omg please get the mobile 2400/2500/2600... its like not even overclocking at all!!! those are cherry-picked cpus taht are designed for low power consumption... but when used at a normal barton vcore, you can easily set it to 3200+ w/o even trying!!

The price of the AXP 3200 and 3000 are hardly justyfiable (sp?); I would also recomend getting a 2500+ and simply setting the FSB to 200Mhz.

XP 2800+ Barton, AXDA2800DKV4C, OEM Barton that runs 266Mhz FSB with 16x multiplier, 2133Mhz . I got one cheap, seemed like crappy choice first due to 266Mhz FSB, but then I discovered its unlocked 🙂 Now it runs this way http://www.kambja.ee/~priit/barton.jpg , downclocked to 10x200. Runs rather cool, too, 32C idle 45C full load with cheap cooling...
