CPU OC causing problems with USB Flash Drives?

In my Main Rig below, I got my Q6600 up to 3.0GHz stable, stock voltage. Memory running at 800MHz with tight timings (4-4-4-12 @2.1V - per its EPP profile).

Everything's running fine. But just several weeks ago I started to have problems when I inserted USB flash drives (just those - media players, my Palm Treo, etc. have no issues). It would lock up Explorer/My Computer, and then just slow up/lock down the PC and force a reset.

I first thought it was a Vista update push or software glitch. I reinstalled drivers to no effect. I then toyed with a few USB settings in the BIOS, disabling then re-enabling - to no effect.

Then I put my OC back to stock, now the USB problem's gone.

Anyone else run into this issue? I know the USB controller runs off the southbridge, so maybe there's an instability there? Temperatures, maybe?

Fishing for some thoughts. Thanks!

this happened with a ga-650sli i built... that board is a weak oc'er (for me at least)...

try pushing the sb voltage up a bit... i did both that and dropped the oc a bit and it seems to be fine (haven't heard anything from the owner)...
