CPU+Nonconductive Fluid= killer gaming rig

Any ideas for a compact liquid cooling system or a nonconductive fluid?


I want to completely submerge my mobo in liquid

If you're made of money, Fluorinert from 3M would fit the bill. Otherwise, I think people have had success with using mineral oil in passive immersion cooling solutions.

If you try it, you must let us know how it goes. I'm considering doing something like that over the summer, just for fun.

Do you know where to get that stuff that cray uses?

I have absolutely no idea what Cray uses or where to get it. Odds are they use Fluorinert, though. There's a recent thread somewhere around here that has a link to a store you can purchase it from for ridiculous prices.

How long do you think I should keep the oil in the case? Price is not a problem

I really don't know how long mineral oil is good for, though I imagine it keeps for quite a while. If it needs to be changed, you could probably tell by the smell.😛
