cpu mounting base on I7 cpu?

Can the mounting base (lga1155)socket with the little copper spring things the cpu touches be replaced? I got a used mb with one of the many broke?

Has any one tried replacing a broken pin?

I had a mother board that wouldn't boot, with one missing pin. Took some wire strands made them the same size, inserted it into the missing pins hole. Put my CPU in and the board worked fine, even over clocked. Some missing pins are not needed and are just grounds, I think you can google the pins for the socket and you'll find what each pins purpose is. I saw a video last week, on you tube a guy in Russia did it. He heats the socket up with a hot air gun, puts a little flux on it he made it look easy...........I think gigabyte will repair a socket also, if it is under warranty.

I was thinking the same thing! I bet you could even solder a new pin/wire in it.

as long as it is not one of the v-core pins.

add flux/solder. heat gun. hold new pin in place. allow to cool.

sound plausible.

How did you find it? That's the one I was referring to, if you find someone they have to have many years experience. He makes it look almost easy
