CPU / mobo support question

i have a FIC ka-6110 and i just got a p3-667

when i boot up my machine, it states that processor is p3-667eb

but then it gives me CPUID unknown

if my processor was not supported by the motherboard, would it still display its speed at the beginning??

thanks

The motherboard works out the speed from the FSB and the multiplier. Your problem is that your motherboard does not recognise the stepping of the CPU. The CPUID is the stepping number. To resolve this, flash your motherboard to the latest BIOS.

If flashing the bios does not work then you could try and get one of your friend's CPUs to check if it is the CPU itself which is having problems. But I think it is mostly that the mobo has not been flahsed with the latest drivfers, so try that.

Hope this helped you,

Albert.

see, i tried to update my bios, but my computer stops responding after telling me "verifying DMI pool ......... update success"
then it freeezes not givin me chancce to boot up off a floppy. what can i do? i know the processor works, its brand new.
