Hi all,

I already have this built in 2004:

Motherboard: MSI K7N2Delta-L with a 64MB XFX Nvidia Graphics Card.
Processor: AMD Athlon 2400+
RAM: 1.5 GB DDR RAM
Harddisk: Seagate 80GB IDE Harddisk.

Country: India

Purpose of upgrade:

*Basic word, Excel, Internet browsing, downloading stuff, watching movies, series in MKV, Avi format.
*The new build should be fast & Stable enough for above operations for about 3 years minimum
*I want to upgrade only the above components to make windows 7 64-bit installation .

Budget:
Rs.10000/- Which is US$188 ( I know many will think it is too less a budget, however, i request your input).

Already These are some recommendation which I got:

Option 1: AMD Based:

AMD A4-5300 @ Rs.3000. http://www.flipkart.com/amd-3-4-ghz-...mdfqsnbcfuqfhk (good integrated graphics. will also handle mild gaming and videos will be hardware accelerated.)
MSI FM2-A55M-E33 @ 3500.
Corsair 4 GB 1600 Mhz DDR3 RAM @ 1200
Hard disk = your choice.

Option 2: Intel Based:

If you will add a discrete GPU in future, go for Intel G650 @ 3500 + H61 motherboard @ 3500.
Intel g645 - Intel G645 - Intel: Flipkart.com
asus h61 - ASUS P8H61-M LX Motherboard - ASUS: Flipkart.com
corsair ram - Corsair DDR3 4 GB (1 x 4 GB) PC RAM (CMV4GX3M1A1333C9) - Corsair: Flipkart.com
wd 500gb - WD Caviar Blue 500 GB Desktop Internal Hard Drive (WD5000AAKX) - WD: Flipkart.com

My request:

Recommend CPU, Motherboard, RAM, HDD for me, which you think will be better than this within $188.

Keep in mind that new motherboard don't typically come with IDE ports of any kind. If you have an IDE optical drive, that will need to be upgraded as well.

Here's what I would do (feel free to shop around for a better price):
A4-3300 Rs. 2700
MSI FM2-A55M-E33 Rs. 3730
Corsair DDR3 1333 4GB Rs. 1350
WD Blue 500GB Rs. 3325
Total: Rs. 11,105

I looked around on Flipkart, but I couldn't find products for the exact price you quoted.

mfenn, as you recommended, I bought combo for my uncle aged 50+. running Pretty good for about 5 months now... and they are very happy with the performance even when running for days together without switching off.
Thanks :)
