CPU/Memory shows up (again)

So I come in this morning, and sitting on my desk is a HP branded Xeon 2.4 and a 1GB stick of PC2100 Reg ECC. Obviously a server upgrade for someone. I've seen this package before. It was delivered to me before by mistake. We run a HP-UX box in my dept. So they assumed this was for that. My box doesn't use Xeons (it uses 64bit PA RISC processors), and the memory isn't going to fit either. Anyway it's back. Why? Because IS/purchasing can't figure out where it's supposed to go! Only problem, none of my boxes can use it.

I thought about it. But somewhere among the 5000+ employees, someone is looking for this.

Edit -
Hmm. Wasn't there recently a HD thread about a dual Xeon motherboard pretty cheap.

Edit 2 -
1 phone call to IS Tech side (not admin) and it's claimed. So no new Xeon for me.

A few years ago we had a batch of 17" Mitsubishi Diamondtron monitors come in with a large shipment of other stuff... they sat in our receiving area for about 3 months while we tried to figure out who had ordered them (we buy exclusively Compaq stuff, so they weren't ours). We never did figure it out, so I got a "free" dual monitor upgrade... score! 🙂
