Well, I got no help in the MB forum so I guess I'll try here.
I got a PC from a friend. It has a processor in it labeled as follows:
Intel
Pentium 4
2.66GHZ/512/533/1.525v
SL6DX Costa Rica
3234A262-1063
The board on that PC seems to be bad so I'm trying to find if I have another board this will work on. I have an IBM board labeled 49P1599. It says REV 1.2 on it as well.
I can't seem to find specs on this board anywhere to know for sure if the chip will work on it. It's currently got a P4 1.8 chip on it but I think I've found it's a 400/533 MB so this 533 chip I'd assume would work.
Can anyone let me know for sure before I start dismantling things?
Also, if I take the PC with the P4 1.8, can I just swap the chip and boot right back up or will I need to reinstall Windows and such. I wouldn't be replacing the MB so I'd assume I wouldn't have to do anything but have never done that before.
